Before and After's

I love a good before and after; no matter what the subject: weight loss, hair, make-over, make-under...you get the idea.  A good before and after helps you visualize the potential that you can do with a little (or a lot) of tweaking.

Since my love is decorating & decor, I put together a few before and after photos of different rooms in my house.   If you are a regular reader of my blog some of these pics may look familiar to you; but I haven't ever posted them in a side by side version.  Seeing the side by side transformation is always fun!

***some of these pics have the watermark for my soon to launch home staging business Show Off Staging; you can use the 'contact me' link if you are in the Atlanta area and have any questions.

On the deck, I simply added pillows and plants for more color to make the space really pop.

The built-in's before were boring; after purchasing a stencil, I made them more interesting in about a day and half's time.  I really love this simple transformation.

Our master is pretty big, but its rectangular big, so I added a sitting area in front of the bed to watch TV.  I also hung pictures, panels that I hung high above the window frame and accessories from various home stores.  I originally thought I would paint this room, but I figured a way to add color through the pillows and throws instead.

In our master bathroom I decluttered, added a rug runner (found at Pier 1 Imports), capiz chandelier and a mirror over the bathtub (which is hard to see in the after picture - sorry).

Our basement has 2 sitting rooms; In the longer odd shaped room I painted wide tone on tone stripes on the TV wall.  I love the look of wide stripes and it took about 2 days to complete.  I hung some pictures (the left wall is not completed yet) and added a sofa and love seat and accessories.  Eventually we will change out the sofa and love seat for theater style seating and change the TV.

For our entryway, I added a console table that I found on clearance; wicker storage baskets to put under the console table (we dont even use them - just decorative) and a fun NY themed subway art hanging...and of course accessories for the console table.  This was such and easy change.  Took an hour or so if that.

In the living room, I added a rug, stenciled the built in's and changed our the couches for a sectional and of course added accessories.

This picture is from my house in Connecticut.  In the living room there, I hired someone to put in the mosaic tumbled stone surround - it was also added to the hearth (not easy to see in the after photo).  I painted the wall my favorite color gray (Martha Stewart Cement Gray) and added scones and accessories.

And that concludes my home before and after's!  I found that I had more 'during' and 'after' photos as I looked through my files. So while there are many other pics I can post, I have to first find the 'before' pics.  Stay tuned for a part 2 of Before and After's.

I hope you enjoyed this and can use it as inspiration to visualize your 'after's.

Best,
