Thanksgiving on the brain

About a week and a day away, but who's counting?  ::raises hand::

So yay, we are hosting Thanksgiving this year and we are expecting about 20ish people, maybe 18.  Either way, I need to get moving on the planning and table-scaping.

I figured we will have 3 tables.  Our dining room table (seats 6), a rented round table that seats 10, and our kitchen table (which seats 4); so that's 20 seats  (check my math!).

We plan to take my office desk and chairs out of my home office and use that space as another dining area for the 72" round table.  Nice thing is my office is directly across from the Dining room so I think that arrangement will work out perfectly.  The kitchen table will stay where it is and I am thinking about making that the kiddo table; set up with crayons, stickers and brown craft paper set out over the tablecoth.

So today, in between conference calls and HR reports, I started playing around with tablescapes for the Dining Room.

Here is what I came up with.  Keep in mind this is a rough attempt. There is no tablecloth, glasses or silverware set out; I just wanted to get an idea.

Let me explain:  The cardboard box is there to add some height to the table.  I plan to wrap that in burlap.  The pine-cones and gourds will be arranged in a more cascading affect.  The flame-less candles, will stay and the vase of dried autumn colored leaves will stay, but I need a vase filler for the base.

So here, the name tag is from The Pretty Paperie on Etsy $5 for the instant download!  I printed them quickly on my work printer to get the idea.  I will print them on the color printer for Thanksgiving.

And last, I will add a cream tablecloth to this table and a coppery brown napkin in place of the cream one shown.  The place setting will be pretty simple and modern like this.  Pine cone, napkin, white plate and gold charger.  The centerpiece will be the main focus.  I plan to also add 2 pillar candles to this table (I think).

Anyway, that is what I came up with so far.  I cant wait to do the 72" round table next week.  I am going for high drama in there with the centerpiece.  We have coiffured ceilings in that room and I would like to play up that feature....so stay tuned.

Have you done any Thanksgiving run through's yet?  Are you putting up the Christmas tree in time for Thanksgiving dinner.....I think I am.  Cant wait! I love the holidays!  Happy Thanksgiving!
